The Congregational Church at Ridgewell was reopened October 23, 1999. The design of the stained glass window was the result of ideas from the church and the 381st BGMA.
The chapel was attended by many members of the 381st and Chaplain Brown had preached many times over the years within the walls of this area landmark.
The re-dedication of the church was attended by Ray Ater, lifetime member of the BGMA. He presented a check for $947 towards the cost of the stained glass window. This was in addition to the $1,500 previously donated by the Association in 1987. This is the 3rd chapel in 400 years built on the same site.
The building that was there during the war has been razed. While it was there, a canteen was available to the crewmen on the second floor and was used for fellowship. It was a place for the men to share tea and cake with the local people.
The window, over 7 feet tall, is located in the narthex of the chapel. In the lower left is a U.S. flag that indicates Pyote, Tx. while the British Flag on the right indicates Ridgewell. Above them are a pair of B-17s and above that, silhouettes representing the crews that lived and served in Ridgewell.
The chapel is located in the village of Ridgewell.
